NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (February 9, 2008) – DeJuana Mosley scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team dropped a 50-48 decision at Newport News Apprentice School Saturday afternoon. (BOXSCORE)
Asha Atkinson (Deptford, NJ/Deptford), Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) and Sharell McMillan (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) all scored eight points each for the Lions (5-14). The loss ended a three-game winning streak against NNA. Mosley also handed out five assists and collected five steals.
Lincoln played a strong first half and held a 34-27 lead at intermission. The Lions raced out leads of 18-5 and 22-9 early in the game. However, the second half was a different story as Lincoln only scored 14 points and shot just 17.9 percent (5-for-28) over the final 20 minutes.
The Lions held a 46-38 lead with 7:38 remaining following an Atkinson foul shot. Lincoln scored two points the rest of the game as the Lady Builders outscored Lincoln, 12-2 to pull out the victory.
