Bowie, MD (February 5, 2008)- Lincoln University men's basketball fell short to Bowie State 93-71 Tuesday night at A.C. Jordan Arena. (BOXSCORE)
Leading scorer Dante Blanton-Holcombe (Baltimore, MD/Dunbar) dropped 22 points for the Lions. Emmanuel Kakulu (Boston, MA/Another Course to College) had a career high nine assists and also collected six points.
Ladaye Johnson (Wilmington, DE/Hodgson Vo-Tech) added 15 points and five rebounds. Johnon also collected three steals and had four assists. Johnson also scored the first points of the game. Other key players for the Lions were Dominic Washington (Philadelphia, PA/Imhotep Charter) with eight points, and Julian Hall (Baltmore, MD/Archbishop Curley) who scored 10 points for the Lions off the bench.
The biggest deficit for the Lions was six with 8:33 left in the first half. A 3-pointer by Johnson put Lincoln behind 31-30 with 6:49 remaining. The Lions then took control of the game leading 40-35 with 1:11 on the clock. The Lions led at halftime 42-39 before the Bulldogs regained their momentum.
Bowie State' Joshua Johnson had a doube-double grabbing 12 rebounds and collecting 22 points. Other doubvle digit scorers for the Bulldogs were David Paris who also had a double double (21 points, 12 rebounds) and Jason Ingram (17 points, seven rebounds and four assists). Arthur Bowers collected eight points for the Bulldogs and served up seven assists.
The Lions return to action Thursday at Saint Paul's University in North Carolina.
