Asha Atkinson (Deptford, NJ/Deptford) contributed 13 points and five rebounds for Lincoln, which dropped its third straight game. Also turning in solid efforts for Lincoln was Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) (12 points, five rebounds), Sharell McMillan (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) (11 points, five rebounds) and Latoya Thompson (York, PA/William Penn) (10 points). Chanelle Harris (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) finished with nine points, six assists and four steals.
Lincoln (5-15 overall) had difficulty containing Wilmington's tandem of Nordia Henry (23 points, 20 rebounds) and Amelia Simmons (25 points, nine rebounds). Henry recorded her 1,000th career rebound midway through the second half. Wilmington (16-8) won its third straight game.
Lincoln jumped to a 25-16 lead 11 minutes into the game behind some remarkable 3-point shooting. The Lions made 8-of-15 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. However, Wilmington gained control by scoring 16 straight points to turn a 26-18 deficit into a 34-26 lead late in the first half. Despite trailing by 10 points (46-36) at intermission, Lincoln sliced its deficit to 66-62 with 8:23 remaining.
The Lions return to action Saturday afternoon when they host Briarcliffe College at Rivero Hall beginning at 2:00 p.m.
