Columbia Union's late goal defeats Lincoln

TAKOMA PARK, MD. (October 7, 2008) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team dropped a difficult 2-1 decision to host Columbia Union Tuesday evening. (BOXSCORE)

 

The Lady Lions were beaten when Columbia Union's Krista Byrd scored in the 89th minute off of an assist Azizah Sy. After falling behind early, 1-0, in the 15th minute on a Sy goal, sophomore Shaynita Blanchard (Portmore, Jamaica/Archbishop Carroll) (Portmore, Jamaica/Archbishop Carroll) tied the game in the 52nd minute. Blanchard has eight goals on the season and 15 for her career.

 

Brittany Johnson (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) made five saves for Lincoln. Blanchard led Lincoln with six shots.

 

Lincoln returns to action Saturday morning when it travels to Nyack (NY) College for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff.
