WILMINGTON, Del. (September 26, 2007) -- The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Goldey Beacom College Wednesday afternoon.
The visiting Lady Lions battled despite playing with just two players: Junior Sharell Harwell and sophomore Renee King. They both won their singles matches and teamed up to win their doubles match. First-year coach Ethel Watson was more than impressed with the effort of her dynamic duo.
“Congratulations to both student athletes who represented Lincoln with positive results,” Watson said. “The team had to forfeit in spite of the individual wins due to not having enough players to register as an official match.”
King prevailed at No. 1 singles in an exciting 7-6 tiebreaker over GBC's Kate Lewis. Harwell dismissed Berline DuPeroi, 9-7, at No. 2 singles. King and Harwell also won its doubles match, 8-6.
The Lincoln women continue its abbreviated fall schedule on Tuesday October 2 when it travels to Philadelphia Biblical University for 3:00 p.m. match. The Lions host Goldey Beacom in their final match of the fall season on Wednesday October 10.
