PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (December 7, 2007) -- Lincoln sophomore Jared Randle (Kankakee, IL/Kankakee) broke an 11-year school record in the long jump by soaring 26 feet to highlight a strong opening afternoon for the men's indoor track and field team Friday afternoon at the Maryland Eastern-Shore Lid-Lifter. Randle's effort topped the previous mark of 24 feet, 10 inches, which was held by Thomas Thompson. Randle finished first in the long jump. Randle wasn't finished as he won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.49 seconds. Randle ran faster in the prelims (8.43).
Freshman Limile Hodge had a nice debut by winning the triple jump (14.38 meters) and finishing second in the long jump (7.28). Sophomore Aaron Hunter (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) was second in the triple jump (14.37) and third in the long jump (7.17).
In addition to Randle and Hodge, Lincoln also received first-place efforts from senior Lance Wigfall (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) in the 400-meter dash (48.70 seconds) and sophomore Anthony Bishop (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King) in the 60-meter dash (6.95 seconds).
Freshman Tarem Cannonier was second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.61) and freshman Deon Robinson was second in the 60-meter dash (7.03). Junior Randy Dawkins (Bronx, NY/Lehman) was fourth in the 400-meter dash (50.35).
The Lions' 4 x 400-meter relay team of Cannonier, Jonathan Hill, Dawkins and Wigfall was second (3 minutes, 21.18 seconds) behind the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Overall, in the non-scoring meet, Lincoln competed against Coppin State College and UMES.
