NEWPORT NEWS, VA. (December 8, 2007) -- Lincoln University of Pennsylvania sophomore Jared Randle followed-up his sensational season-opening performance by finishing third in the 60-meter hurdles at the Christopher Newport University Holiday Open at the Freeman Center Saturday afternoon. Randle, who set a school record in winning the long-jump Friday afternoon at Maryland-Eastern Shore, by making the most of his limited action. Randle only competed in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.35 seconds, which was significanty faster than his opening day effort of 8.43 seconds.
While Randle took a rare break from jumping, freshman Limel Hodge and sophomore Aaron Hunter (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) picked up the slack. Hodge was fourth in the long jump (23 feet .5 inches) and eighth in the triple jump (44 feet, seven inches). Meanwhile, Hunter was fourth in the triple-jump (46 feet, 7.5 inches) and seventh in the long jump (22 feet, 7.75 inches).
The Lions' 4 x 400-meter relay team according to the official meet results of Tarem Cannonnier, Melvin Lopez (Brooklyn, NY/Samuel J. Tilden), Randy Dawkins (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and Lance Wigfall (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) finished second (3 minutes, 22.09 seconds) behind Division II national champion Saint Augustine's.
Elsewhere, freshman Jonathan Hill was 12th in the 400-meter dash (51.84 seconds) and freshman Alex Wright (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) was 10th in the 800-meter dash (2 minutes, 4.96 seconds).
The Lincoln men return to the track Saturday January 12, 2008 when it runs at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.
