WEST CHESTER, PA (December 8, 2007) - The Lincoln University Lady Lions dropped an 82-37 decision to West Chester University in the West Chester University Alumni Classic Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Field house. (BOXSCORE)
The Lions (0-6) suffered a slow start despite the intensity of the players. Senior Sharell McMillian led the Lions with 13 points. Junior Tanina Cook added nine points, six rebounds and three steals. The Lions also managed eight points from freshman guard Dejuana Mosley.
A lay-up from Cook placed Lincoln in its smallest point deficit (6-5) which came with 15 minutes, 23 seconds remaining in the first half. Despite the efforts the Lions fell into a 21 point deficit at half-time (44-23). On the defensive side, Lincoln had six players grab four or more rebounds and three players with two or more steals.
West Chester had four players in double digits scoring. Catherine Andrews lead the rams with 15 points and three steals. Janelle Garber and Dana Weems both added 12 points and combined for seven steals and nine rebounds. The rams sped to an early lead after back to back jumpers from Katie Kline (4pts.) and Amanda Vitzakovitch (9pts.) that put them ahead by five (10-5).
Megan Stewart was another double digit scorer for the rams with 11 points. A big key for West Chester was it received 40 of its 82 points from the bench.
