ETTRICK, Va. (December 1, 2007) -- Lincoln senior forward Asha Atkinson finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Virginia State sped past Lincoln, 73-53, in a women's basketball game at Daniel Gym Saturday night. (BOXSCORE)
Despite falling to 0-4, sophomore guard Chanelle Harris grabbed a career high eight rebounds and handed out six assists. Senior Latoya Thompson scored a season-high seven points. Freshman DeJuanna Mosley scored eight points for Lincoln. Meanwhile, senior Sharell McMillan, junior Tanina Cook and sophomore Noel Webster scored six points each for the Lions. Webster set a career high for points with her 3-for-4 shooting effort.
However, Lincoln had difficulty containing Virginia State's speedy guards Katania Walker and Janae Johnson, who combined for 41 points. Walker scored 16 of her 27 points after intermission. Lincoln returns to action Wednesday evening when it hosts California University of Pennsylvania, the 2004 NCAA Division II national champion, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
