Janice Washington enters her fifth season as head coach of the Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball program in the 2025-26 season.
Prior to coming to Lincoln, she completed her fifth season at Daytona State, where she coached 25 All Mid-Florida Conference Selections, 1 Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year, 7 All State/Region VIII Selections, 1 NJCAA All-American, 29 Mid-Florida Conference Scholar Athletes, 16 All State/Region VIII Scholar Athletes, and 5 Academic All-Americans. Washington also served as the Mid-Florida Conference Women's Basketball Chair from May 2018 through May 2021, the Region VIII State Chair for Women's Basketball, and was the Event Coordinator for the Annual NJCAA Top 40 All-Star Event. She was also a member of the NJCAA Top 40 Selection Committee.
Before her time at Daytona State, Washington spent three seasons as the assistant coach at her alma mater, Campbell University, during her second stint there. In total, she spent nine seasons with the Camels, where she developed both perimeter and post players, managed scouting and film exchange, and assisted with recruiting. Between her two stints at Campbell, Washington spent the 2012-13 season leading Lackawanna College, a Division II junior college in Scranton, PA, and the 2010-11 season coaching at Vicenza High School in Italy, where her team improved from a 1-22 record to 17-3, earning the program’s first European Championship (US equivalent to a state championship).
Washington has also worked in various U.S. Army locations, including Fort Sill, OK, Vicenza, Italy, Alexandria, VA, and Scranton, PA, from 2008 to 2011. She served as the Advertising and Commercial Sponsorship Program Coordinator and earned the Department of the Army Achievement Medal for her service at Fort Belvoir.
She received her MBA from Campbell University in 2004 and earned her BBA in Trust Management and Financial Planning in 2001. As a player, Washington ended her career as Campbell's leader in games played with 119 career games, starting 114 of those. She was a member of the 2000 Atlantic Sun Championship team, scoring 996 points, and ranking third in school history for total steals and assists. Washington’s 15 assists against Samford in 2000 set an NCAA season high for assists in a game that year. She finished her career as one of the top five leaders in total assists (572) and ranked tenth in total steals (256), with a career free throw percentage of 78%. Washington was selected to the All-Conference Newcomer Team and named Second Team All-Conference during her playing career at Campbell.
