Keithen DeGrate’s football journey began at the revered Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a Division II powerhouse during the 1980s and 1990s. This institution, which produced NFL Hall of Famers like Gene Upshaw, Darrell Green, and John Randle, instilled in Coach DeGrate a deep understanding of the game’s essence. His time at Texas A&M University-Kingsville left an indelible mark, fostering a commitment to excellence that would define his coaching career.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach DeGrate's teams consistently ranked among the top nationally in the NCAA Division II polls. His coaching journey took him to diverse institutions, where his expertise shone brightly. As an Offensive Line Coach at Prairie View A&M University, he showcased his ability to nurture talent and maximize player potential.

Coach DeGrate's tenure as a Defensive Line Coach at Blinn Junior College is historic. His defensive line led the nation in sacks, exemplifying his ability to develop dominant defensive units. Under his guidance, Blinn Junior College's defense was ranked as the third-best defense in the NJCAA, holding opponents to a mere 168.3 yards per game.

Coach DeGrate’s journey wasn’t just about individual accomplishments but about building winning programs. From Albany State University to Fort Valley State, his leadership contributed to conference championships, playoff appearances, and national recognition. His impact extended beyond the field, shaping players into well-rounded individuals prepared for success on and off the gridiron.

Coach DeGrate's influence also extended to San Diego High School, where he elevated the team’s performance. He turned a struggling 1-9 team into a district champion with a 10-3 record. Beyond football, he showcased his versatility by guiding teams to powerlifting state championships.

Facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Coach DeGrate’s resilience remained unwavering. After a successful entrepreneurial endeavor, he returned to coaching at Lincoln University. Now, working alongside mentees Joshua Dean and Frank Turner, he continues to shape the next generation of players and contribute to the sport he loves.
