John Stuart joined the Lincoln University football staff in 2018. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Stuart comes to Lincoln after serving as an assistant coach at Cheyney University for eight seasons.
In the last three seasons, Stuart held the title of Assistant Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator.
In 2016 Stuart helped develop defensive Lineman Joe Bryant, who earned first-team honors in the PSAC East, first team accolades from Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Don Hansen Football Gazette third team. From 2012-2013, Stuart was in charge of the linebackers and helped mentor Isaiah Fleming, who earned three consecutive first-team PSAC East honors, and was All-Region in 2013 & 14. In 2011 Stuart coached the secondary and helped develop Stan Banks to PSAC East honors.
Stuart arrived at Cheyney University in 2010 after spending two seasons as the defensive back coach at Bishop McDevitt High School (Wyncote, Pa), his alma mater.
Stuart graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Stuart was a four year letterman and a three year starter as a defensive back; he played in the 1993 Division II championship game and holds the IUP record for the longest interception return for a touchdown (91yards).
While at IUP, Stuart also competed in Track & Field. He competed in the 1997 Division II National Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 110H and 400IH.
From 2002-04 football seasons, Stuart was a member of the Albany Conquest of the Arena 2 Football League.
He is also a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
