LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University (Pa.) women's soccer team will open its 2026 season on Wednesday, September 2, when the Lions welcome Bluefield State University to LU Athletics Stadium.

Lincoln's scheduled season opener against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford was canceled, making Wednesday's contest the first opportunity for the Lions to take the field in regular-season competition.

Head Coach Sal Minor enters the season with one of the deepest rosters of his tenure. Lincoln returns 12 student-athletes while welcoming 18 newcomers who are expected to provide additional talent, depth and competition throughout the lineup.

Goalkeeper Ariel Reyes (Valley Stream, NY) returns after missing much of last season because of injury. Reyes previously demonstrated her ability in goal by recording nine saves in Lincoln's scoreless draw against NCAA Division I opponent Delaware State in 2025. Nevaeh Washington (Philadelphia, PA) also provides the Lions with valuable depth between the posts.

Lincoln will look to its returning core to provide leadership while several newcomers prepare to make their collegiate debuts. The Lions' combination of experience and new talent will be tested immediately against a Bluefield State team that enters the matchup with momentum.

The Big Blue opened their season with an 11-0 road victory over Alice Lloyd College on August 28. Bluefield State finished the 2025 season with a 4-9 record and advanced to the CIAA Women's Soccer Cup championship match after defeating Shaw University in the semifinals.

Wednesday's contest begins with a stretch of five home matches among Lincoln's first six scheduled games. Following the matchup against Bluefield State, the Lions will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, to face Shaw University on Monday, September 7, at 1:30 p.m.
