LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — The Lincoln University volleyball team continues Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play with three Northern Division matchups this week, hosting Elizabeth City State University on Monday, October 26, before traveling to Bowie State University on Tuesday, October 27, and Virginia Union University on Thursday, October 29.
Monday's match begins at 6 p.m. inside Oxford High School. Tuesday's contest is also scheduled for 6 p.m. at A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Maryland. Thursday's matchup takes the Lions to Richmond, Virginia.
The Lions will look to build on their first conference victory of the season, earned against Johnson C. Smith to close CIAA Roundup II. The three matches provide Lincoln an opportunity to carry that progress into the final stretch of the regular season.
Scouting Elizabeth City State
Elizabeth City State visits Lincoln following a four-set loss to Shaw on October 22. The Vikings dropped the opening two sets before responding with a 25–17 victory in the third, ultimately falling 25–16, 25–23, 17–25, 25–17.
Kendall Washington led Elizabeth City State with eight kills against the Lady Bears. Christian Bouie contributed seven kills and seven total blocks, while Golden Brown distributed 18 assists.
For Lincoln, working around Bouie's presence at the net and maintaining consistent serve reception will be important to creating scoring opportunities. The Lions will also look to sustain pressure from the service line and limit extended scoring runs.
Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State presents another challenge in Tuesday's road matchup. The Bulldogs demonstrated their serving strength in a recent four-set loss at Millersville, finishing with nine aces, 37 kills and 53 digs.
Payton Swinton led Bowie State with 13 kills, four service aces and nine digs. Gabrielle Hale directed the offense with 27 assists, while Mil'lanni Marte collected a team-high 14 digs. Iman Wright added six kills and hit .357.
Lincoln will look to control Swinton's scoring opportunities while keeping its passing steady against the Bulldogs' serve. Extending rallies and converting defensive stops into productive attacks will be priorities.
Looking Ahead to Virginia Union
Lincoln concludes the week Thursday with a trip to Virginia Union in Richmond. The matchup gives the Lions another opportunity to earn a Northern Division victory as the regular season winds down.
With three matches in four days, Lincoln will look to maintain consistent communication, limit unforced errors and generate contributions throughout its lineup. Strong serving and disciplined defensive coverage will be central to the Lions' effort against the Panthers.
