LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. —
Kyrie Tyson (Elkton, MD/Elkton HS) recorded 10 receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown, but the Lincoln University football team's fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 21–14 loss to Winston-Salem State on Saturday afternoon during Homecoming and Senior Day.
The Lions dropped to 1–7 overall and 1–5 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Rams improved to 2–6 overall and 2–4 in the conference.
How it Happened
Lincoln struck first, taking advantage of favorable field position following two defensive stops to open the game. Malory Pinkney capped a seven-play, 40-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run with 5:58 remaining in the first quarter.
Armando Avril's (Hillside, NJ) extra point gave the Lions a 7–0 advantage.
Winston-Salem State tied the contest with 4:07 left in the second quarter when Daunte Stokes returned a punt 36 yards for a touchdown. Lincoln responded by driving to the Rams' five-yard line, but a blocked 22-yard field goal attempt kept the score tied at 7–7 heading into halftime.
The Rams scored twice in the third quarter to take control. Brayden Jeffries connected with Sean Walker Jr. for a 75-yard touchdown pass with 12:30 remaining, and Jamison Funderburk added a two-yard touchdown run at the 2:07 mark to extend the lead to 21–7.
Lincoln's defense provided a spark in the fourth quarter when Dayone Fitch stopped Jayvion Danzy on fourth-and-two at the Lions' 20-yard line. The offense followed with a 12-play, 80-yard scoring drive, highlighted by an 11-yard Pinkney run and a fourth-down conversion by
Shamir Norton (Philadelphia, PA).
Rhyel Miles-Eubanks (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville Area HS) finished the possession with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Tyson with 4:40 remaining. Avril's second extra point brought Lincoln within seven.
The Lions forced punts on Winston-Salem State's final two possessions, creating two more opportunities to tie the game. Lincoln was stopped short on fourth down on its next drive before a final possession ended with a fumble as time expired.

Lorenzo Robinson (White Plains, NY) added 22 yards on five attempts. Mikal Davis completed 14 passes for 130 yards, and Miles-Eubanks contributed 57 passing yards and a touchdown.
