Lincoln University, PA. – September 11, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) football team begins CIAA conference play this Saturday, September 13, on the road against Winston-Salem State University at Bowman Gray Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 PM ET.

About the Matchup

Lincoln enters its first CIAA contest of the season looking to bounce back and secure its first victory of 2025. Saturday's matchup marks the Lions' fourth all-time meeting with the Rams, with Winston-Salem State holding a 2–1 edge in the series. The last meeting in 2023 went Lincoln's way, a thrilling 30–27 victory that gave the Lions their first win over WSSU in program history.

Winston-Salem State comes in with momentum after edging Mars Hill University 28–25 last weekend. The Rams, who finished 2024 with a 7–3 record, are 1–1 to start the year and will be playing their first home game of the season in front of what is traditionally one of the CIAA's most passionate fan bases.

Why This Game Matters

  • Conference Opener: Both teams begin their CIAA schedules on Saturday, making the matchup crucial for early positioning in the conference standings.

  • Lincoln's Push for a Win: The Lions are still searching for their first victory of the season, and a strong showing against a tough opponent could set the tone heading into Lincoln's first home game next weekend.

  • Revisiting History: Lincoln's last matchup against WSSU in 2023 ended in a 30–27 Lions victory. The rematch gives Lincoln a chance to prove they can win again in one of the league's toughest environments.
