Lincoln Softball Eyes Strong 2025 Season in CIAA Play

2/7/2025 10:39:00 AM

Lincoln University, PA – February 7, 2025 – With the 2025 season fast approaching, Lincoln University (PA) softball head coach Zadaisha Waddell has high expectations for her team as they look to build on last year's success. Entering her third season at the helm, Waddell is emphasizing the importance of attention to detail and doing the little things that lead to success.

The Lions are coming off a 17-26 overall record in 2024, finishing 12-5 in CIAA play. Their efforts earned them a No. 4 ranking in the CIAA preseason poll, and Waddell believes this team has the potential to climb even higher.

"Their success is my success," Waddell said, underscoring her commitment to developing her players both on and off the field. With a strong mix of experienced returners and promising freshmen, the Lions are looking to make a statement this season.

Key Players to Watch

Leading the charge for Lincoln will be a core group of notable returners, including Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark), Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory), Ashlynn Sherman (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School), Ajah McDowell (Atlanta, GA/Druid Hills High School), and Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School). Their leadership and experience will be instrumental in guiding the team through another competitive CIAA season.

Waddell is also excited about the newcomers joining the program, highlighting freshmen Oaklyn Johnson (Baltimore, MD) and Veronica Tart (Dunn, NC) as players to watch. With a blend of talent and strong team chemistry, she believes this group has the potential to make a significant impact right away.

Looking Ahead

As the Lions prepare for the 2025 season, Waddell has set high aspirations—not just for her team, but for herself as well. With her sights set on CIAA Coach of the Year honors, she remains focused on building a winning culture and competing at the highest level.

With a competitive roster, strong leadership, and a determined mindset, the Lions are ready to take the next step and prove themselves as one of the CIAA's top programs. Opening day is just around the corner, and Lincoln softball is set to make its mark.
