Baltimore, MD – February 26, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team fought hard but came up short against Virginia State, falling 61-50 in CIAA Tournament play at CFG Bank Arena.
Lincoln put up a strong effort, led by Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) with 16 points and 8 rebounds in her final game for the Lions. Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) also made a significant impact in her last outing, tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lions had a strong defensive presence, forcing 12 turnovers, but struggled from three-point range, connecting on just 4 of 16 attempts. Virginia State capitalized in key moments, shooting 33% from the field and maintaining control of the game's tempo.
Despite the loss, Lincoln's future remains bright with the leadership of head coach Janice Washington and the emergence of young talent, the Lions are poised for a strong campaign in the upcoming year.
