Bluefield, WV – January 29, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team battled hard but fell 86-76 in overtime to Bluefield State University. The intense matchup saw both teams trading momentum before the Big Blue pulled away in the extra period. With the loss, the Lions drop to 9-11 overall and 5-5 in CIAA play.

Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the Lions with a double-double, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals. Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) added 12 points and 3 steals, making an impact on both ends of the floor. Senior Taylor Brown (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) and freshman Ariana Makumi (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly) also contributed 12 points each, providing key offensive support.

Lincoln controlled the game early, taking a 37-29 lead into halftime. However, a 26-point third quarter by Bluefield State shifted momentum. The Lions fought back, trailing by just one point heading into the fourth quarter and forcing overtime. Despite their resilience, Lincoln was outscored 19-9 in the extra period, falling short in the final minutes.

The Lions will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Virginia Union University on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Richmond, VA.
