LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (January 31, 2024)- The Lincoln University women's basketball team overpowered the Bluefield State University Blues, 80-69, in the Lions home CIAA Northern Division contest. The victory moves the Lions to an 9-10 record on the season, 5-6 in the CIAA.

FIRST HALF
- Even with the visiting Blues securing the first basket of the contest, the Lions quickly took charge with a shot from behind the arc to take the lead.
- Standing firm on executing their plays, Lincoln maintained a strong lead in the first quarter, 21-17.
- The second quarter undoubtedly belonged to LU as they worked to extend the scoring gap.
- Capitalizing off of Bluefield State's turnovers, Lincoln added 10 points off of turnovers to the books.
- Entering the locker room at halftime, the score ruled in favor the Lions, 39-32.
SECOND HALF
- The third quarter was LU's highest scoring period of the matchup, with 24 points to BSU's 16.
- Extending the scoring gap to double-digits, the home team gave themselves a lead cushion the Blues couldn't bounce back from.
- Displaying their offensive and defensive skills, the third quarter ended in favor of the LU, 63-48.
- The fourth quarter mimicked the previous as Lincoln worked to seal their CIAA Northern Division victory.
- At the end of regulation, the LU Lions overpowered the Bluefield State Blues, 80-69.
LION LEADERS
- Leading LU and the game with 21 points was Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep).
- Equally matched for the Lions and also scoring in double-digits were Jaleesa Lanier (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) (19) and Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) (10).
- D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) controlled the rebounds for Lincoln, securing 8 boards.

The Lions will host the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University on Saturday, February 3. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
