LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (September 30, 2023)- The Lincoln University Lions, under the leadership of first year head coach
Frank Turner, secured a home victory over the Winston-Salem State University Rams in the final seconds of the 4
th quarter. The Lions gave the Rams a 30-27 conference upset.

FIRST HALF
- The Lions jump started the action in LU Athletic Stadium with a 43-yard touchdown by Malachi Langley (Chester, Pa./Chester High School).
- With a score of 7-0, Lincoln held their only lead of the first half.
- It seemed like hope was lost as the Rams answered back with 2 touchdowns in the first quarter, bring the score to 14-7, in favor of WSSU.
- After the Rams score on a 95-yard punt return, the Lion fans need something to make noise about; and Dah'mear Triplett (Elkton, Md./Elkton High School) delivered.
- With seconds left in the half, Triplett secured a 4-yard pass from Isaiah Freeman (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy High School) to close the scoring gap, 21-14, going into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- The 3rd quarter gave the Lions a slight push, with Derrick McCoy (Bridgeton, N.J./Bridgeton High School) adding 2 points to the board for a score of 21-16.
- Knowing that there was still time left to make a difference, Lincoln kicked their game into high gear in the 4th quarter.
- Isaiah Freeman (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy High School) moved the Lions ahead with a 1-yard gain into the endzone, for a 22-21 lead over the Rams.
- As time ran down, WSSU managed to score with 1:02 left on the clock. The visitors held a 27-22 lead over the Lions.
- With the Lincoln fans on the feet, Dah'mear Triplett (Elkton, Md./Elkton High School) secured an 8-yard pass to move the Lions ahead, 28-27. Amir Gerald (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson High School) sealed the deal, rushing for 2, giving the home team a 30-27 lead.
- The Rams couldn't answer back with second left on the clock.
- The Lion Way was evident as LU Athletic Stadium erupted with cheers for the Lincoln 30-27 victory.
- Not only was this a win for the Lions, but they gave the Rams their first conference loss of the season!
LION LEADERS
- Quarterback Isaiah Freeman was 22-for-38 on pass completions for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 153 net yards on 21 attempts for a single touchdown.
- Wide Receiver Dah'mear Triplett (Elkton, Md./Elkton High School) covered 80 yards on 9 receptions for 2 touchdowns, including the game winning run! Malachi Langley (Chester, Pa./Chester High School) also played his part with 128 yards on 4 receptions for a single touchdown.
- Defensively, Rodney Stubbs (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) led the Lions with 10 total tackles (7 solo, 3 assisted) and forced fumble.
