KUTZTOWN, PA (September 23, 2023)- The Lincoln University Lions volleyball team fell to Kutztown University, in a 3-1 road match on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set one began with intense back-and-forth action, as the Lions battled to take the lead.
- Lincoln picked up their efforts in the final plays of set 1, going on a 5-0 to close the scoring gap, but took a 25-20 loss.
- The Lions had a rough set 2, falling to Kutztown with a set score of 25-10.
- Determined to bounce back, Lincoln regrouped and entered set 3 with renewed energy.
- Going on 2 consecutive runs, Lincoln took an early 12-6 lead over Kutztown.
- As both sides showcased their offensive and defensive skills, there were several lead changes.
- The Lions fought hard to capitalize off of three of their opponents' final errors for a set 3 win, 27-25.
- The fourth set saw both teams locked in a fierce battle once again, but Lincoln couldn't quite repeat the magic of the previous set.
- Despite their best efforts, the Lions fell short in set 4 by a score of 25-22, ending the match with a 3-1 loss.
- Although the final score was not in favor of Lincoln, the team's ability to face a challenge and their comeback victory in the third set is clear they have the talent to compete with regional opponents.
LION LEADERS
- Erica Taylor (Romulus, MI/Romulus Summit Academy) led the charge for the Lions with 11 kills against Kutztown.
- Stepping in for the Lions with 16 assists, 9 digs and 3 aces was Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown).
- Erinn Taylor (Romulus, MI/Romulus Summit Academy) jumped up to control the game with 6 blocked for Lincoln in their Saturday matchup.
