LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball program capped its best season in history with a trio of representatives on the CIAA's postseason teams as first baseman
Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark), outfielder
Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory), and pitcher
Chloe Foster (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) each received their due recognition.
Â
Brown, an All-CIAA Second Team selection, was one of two ladies to break the single-season program record for hits, winding up second all-time and second in the league at an even 40 base knocks. She also ranked ninth in the CIAA for RBIs with 21 and led Lincoln in both batting average (.351) plus multi-hit contests (11).
Â
Rose, also an All-CIAA Second Team selection, was the other hits leader, standing alone at the top of the list with an eye-popping and league-high 43 hits. She was the second-best base stealer in the conference, swiping 23 bags at an 88.5% clip (seventh-highest) on top of averaging 0.59 per game, the sixth-most. The speedster was consistently putting solid contact on the ball, topping the Lions with a 15-game hitting streak that she will ride into her 2024 sophomore season.
Â
Foster, a CIAA All-Rookie Team selection, followed the common theme of having one of the best years in school history, setting a new low for ERA at 3.18, more than four runs lower than the previous mark of 7.30 set by Brown in 2022. She was the Lions' best in nearly all pitching categories including ERA (3.18), appearances (22), innings pitched (83.2), starts (12), and complete games (3), picking up the lone shutout and three victories while punching out 36 batters in the circle.
