BALTIMORE, Md. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania women's basketball program will not be getting a chance to defend the crown it won in 2022-23 as the sixth-seeded Shaw Bears stunned the Lions, slowing down its balanced offense in a 59-45 defeat.

• The floor general, Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) handed out a season-high four assists on the evening, tying a game-high with three steals and leading the Lions with 11 points.

 

• Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) put together a ten-point performance off the bench, grabbing five boards with an efficient 55.6% field goal percentage.

 

• D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) went for a contest-best nine rebounds, five on offense, as well as nine points while Kania Pollock (Queens, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) in her possible last appearance for the Lions, went for nine points and four rebounds plus a pair of triples.

 
Notes:
 

• One of the worst offensive nights of the season came in the worst possible moment as LU of PA hit just 30.5% (18-of-59) of its shots and was a dismal 3-for-23 from behind the arc (13%) while being limited to its third-worst scoring total of the campaign (45).

 

• It was an uncharacteristically sloppy affair for the Orange and Blue with 23 miscues, leading to a season-low minus-ten turnover margin.
