CALIFORNIA, PA (November 20, 2023)- The Lincoln University women's basketball team outscored the Vulcans of California University of PA in the 4
th quarter of the Monday evening matchup. Unfortunately, the battle back was not enough, resulting in a 82-68 loss for the LU Lions.

FIRST HALF
- At the opening tip-off, both teams seemed equally matched as they warmed up in the first minutes of the contest.
- The Lions secured their only lead of the game, 5-4, after a basket by Taylor Brown (Waldorf, Md./Westlake).
- Cal. PA quickly kicked their game into high gear, taking a large lead over Lincoln.
- Plagued by missed shots and turnovers, LU trailed 24-12 at the end of the 1st quarter.
- As the 2nd quarter unfolded, Lincoln worked to closed the scoring gap, getting within 9 points of tying the game.
- Despite the Lions efforts, the Vulcans maintained their composure, to hold the lead.
- Although LU trialed 47-33 at halftime, D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) carried the Lions scoring 10-of her-13 points in the 1st half.
SECOND HALF
- The 3rd quarter mimicked the 1st half has the Lions fought to stay in the game.
- Despite LU mounting a spirited effort to close the gap, they trailed 69-46 at the end of three quarters.
- Emerging with new energy in the 4th quarter, Lincoln outscored Cal. PA, 22-13.
- As the final minutes of the game ticked away, the Lions battled until the last seconds, as Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) carried the LU scoring 11-of her-16 points in the 2nd half.
- The final score ruled in favor of the Cal. PA Vulcans, 82-68.

- Leading the Lions with 16 points and 4 assists was Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep).
- Also scoring in the double-digits and leading LU in rebounds was D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
- Stepping in at the right time was Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) with 3 steals.
UP NEXT
The Lions host the Rams of Shepherd University for Lincoln's first women's basketball home game of the season. Tip-off for the rescheduled contest is set for Monday, November 27 at 5:30pm in Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
