ETTRICK, VA (November 10, 2023) - The Lincoln University women's basketball team, under the leadership of Head Coach Janice Washington, have traveled to Ettrick, VA to compete in the Atlantic Region Challenge hosted by Virginia State University on November 11-12, 2023. The Lions will face the Senators of Davis and Elkins College on Saturday, November 11 for a 1pm matchup. On Sunday November 12, LU will take on the Rams of Shepherd University at 3pm.

SERIES HISTORY

• The LU Lions and D&E Senators will be facing off for the first time in program history to being their series matchup.
• In the matchup against the Shepherd Rams, the Lions are 2-2 in the series after a 73-62 road victory on November 22, 2022.

SELF-SCOUT

• The Lions tipped off their 2023-24 season with an exhibition matchup against Old Dominion University on November 6. Although they fell short to their Division I opponent, 72-50, the contest set the tone to for the season.
• In Lincoln's exhibition contest, scoring and assists were led by Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) with 10 points and 6 assists.
• Controlling the boards for the Lions was D'Ayzha Atkinson (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) with 6 rebounds, while Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) was in the right place at the right time with 4 steals and 9 points for LU.

SCOUTING THE DAVIS & ELKINS SENATORS

• Davis & Elkins will be opening their season at the Atlantic Region Challenge this weekend.
• In their respective conference (Mountain East), the Senators were predicted to finish 10^thout of 11-member institutions.
• D&E returns 11 players from last year's squad that finished 7-20 overall and 7-15 against Mountain East opponents.

SCOUTING THE SHEPHERD RAMS

• Shepherd, like D&E will be opening their season at the Atlantic Region Challenge this weekend.
• In their respective conference (PSAC), Shepherd was predicted to finish 9^th out of 9-member institutions in the Eastern Division.
• The Rams return five players from last year's squad that finished 1-26 overall and 1-21 against PSAC opponents.
