EMORY, VA – The Lincoln University softball team opened the 2022 season by dropping a pair of games to Emory & Henry Saturday.
GAME ONE: Emory & Henry 14, Lincoln 1
Freshman
MacKienzee Rasheed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) recorded two of the team's five hits and freshman
Aniyah Isaac (New Brunswick, N.J./New Brunswick) drove in the lone run as the Lions fell 14-1. Freshman
Jasmine Solis (Fontana, Calif./Summit) opened the fifth inning by getting hit by a pitch, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored as Isaac singled up the middle.
The Wasps tallied seven runs in the first inning, two in the third and five in the fourth inning.
Freshman
Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark), 0-1, allowed seven earned runs – nine total – on nine hits with one strikeout.
GAME TWO: Emory & Henry 9, Lincoln 1
Lincoln managed three hits in falling to Emory & Henry in the nightcap of the non-conference twinbill.
Freshman
Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills), who scored the team's lone run in the sixth inning, had one of the team's three knocks. Rasheed reached base twice, one by a hit and another on a hit by pitch, while Townsend had the team's only other hit.
Freshman
Cate Liskey (Richland, Pa./Eastern Lebanon ), 0-1, allowed four runs on six hits in three innings of work. She recorded a strikeout and had one walk.
Lincoln (0-2) returns to action noon Sunday with a non-conference doubleheader against Emory & Henry.
