The Lincoln University women's soccer team put together one of their best outings this season, but a 15-minute stretch in the first half was their ultimate undoing as the Lions fell to Chesnut Hill, 5-0, Thursday in non-conference action at the LU Athletics Stadium.
Chesnut Hill scored four its five markers during that faithful 15 minutes. The Griffins scored their only other goal in the 14th minute to kick off the scoring. They launched 17 of their 25 shots in the first 45 minutes, while holding Lincoln to zero shots.
The second half was a bit more even as CHC barely outshot Lincoln, 8-6, but the Lions put more shots on frame (5-3). The hosts had several quality chances, however, they just couldn't find the back of the net.
Freshman
Ida Rose Moore (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf), in her first game of the season, finished with 11 saves on 16 shots.
Freshman
Calista Daye (Pottstown, Pa. /Pottstown) had two of LU's three shots on goal, and sophomore
Grace Quiah (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) added two more shots. Sophomore
Jolyn Walleekendeh (Monrovia, Liberia/Chichester (Pa.)) had Lincoln's other shot on goal.
Lincoln (0-7 overall) returns to East Coast Conference action noon Saturday, traveling to Queens.
