SERIES HISTORY
Despite trailing the overall series, 11-2, Lincoln has claimed two of the last three meetings. Both of those victories have been for LU's Homecoming.
THE LAST TIME OUT
For the first time since 2011, two players rushed for at least100 yards as Lincoln claimed the 17-14 Homecoming victory on October 16.
Samuel Jordan (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) had 113 yards on 27 carries and
Andrew Banks (Atlanta, Ga./Mays) added 100 yards on 17 carries as LU racked up 253 yards on the ground, while holding ECSU to just 23.
Devon Cathcart (Chicago, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) finished with eight tackles, while
Andre Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) added five tackles and two pass break-ups.
GROUND ATTACK
Sophomore running back
Amir Gerald (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) has taken over the reigns as the Lions' lead back. The 5-8 back leads the team with 252 yards rushing and a robust 7.4 yards per game.
STOUT DEFENSE
Lincoln's defensive unit is ranked fourth in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, allowing 17.6 points per game. Part of the Lions' success is getting off the field on third down. Lincoln is ranked fourth in the CIAA in allowing opponents to a 32.4 conversion rate.
Veteran experience on the backend of the Lincoln defense, which features returners
Rontay Dunbar (Brooklyn, N.Y./Freedom),
Kentrell Pierce (Calumet City, Ill./Harold Richards), and
Eric Best (Burlington, N.J./Burlington), is a huge reason for the defensive success.
FRESHMAN SIGNAL CALLER
Freshman quarterback
Isaiah Freeman (Chester, PA/STEM Academy) has garnered the respect and admiration of his teammates and coaching staff two starts into his collegiate career.
The rookie is fifth in the league in passing with 166.4 yards and is seventh in rushing (45.5). With his total contributions to the LU offense, Freeman is third in total offense with 212 yards per game.
On the season, Freeman is 57-of-116 for 832 yards and eight touchdowns.
HOMECOMING CIRCUIT
This game marks the second of back-to-back Homecoming games for the Lions. This also marks the fourth straight times these two teams have played in a Homecoming game against each other. It was Lincoln's Homecoming in 2018 and 2021, while it was HC at ECSU in 2019.
MEET ELIZABETH CITY STATE
The Vikings come into the game on a three-game losing streak following a 49-0 loss to Virginia Union. Elizabeth City State's lone victory came in week three, a 20-17 decision over Winston-Salem State in the team's lone home game of the season.
ECSU is ranked 11th in both scoring offense (10.7 ppg) and scoring defense (36.8 ppg). The Vikings' biggest strength is their passing defense as they are third in the CIAA, allowing just 163.8 yards per game. The Vikings are getting much pressure on opposing quarterbacks as they have only three sacks in 140 attempts.
Darian King is the team's leading rusher with 111 yards on 31 carries, while Zion Riddick is the top receiving threat with 210 yards on 17 receptions.
Tesean Jones has completed 42-of-74 passing for 409 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
Juanya Majette leads the team with 58 tackles, 38 of which are solos, with 5.5 tackles for loss and an interception.
