It was an offensive explosion on the Lincoln University turf as the Lions women's soccer team established a new school Division II era record with 14 goals in the 14-0 win over Trinity Tuesday.
The 14-goal margin was also the largest in school history. Interim head coach
Sal Minor also recorded his first collegiate coaching victory.
Lincoln finished with 46 shots, 23 in each half, with 24 being launched on frame. The Lions didn't waste much time finding the back of the net as sophomore Jolyn Wallenkendeh scored in the eighth minute, and 16 seconds later, freshman
Calista Daye (Pottstown, Pa. /Pottstown) tallied LU's second goal of the match.
The scoring barrage continued as junior
Kirsten Edwards (Baltimore, Md./Mercy) notched her first career goal with an assist by Wallenkendeh in the 20th minute. Daye quickly made it 4-0 less than a minute later by depositing a pass from sophomore
Grace Quiah (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) in the 21st minute.
An unassisted goal by Wallenkendeh and a goal from
Justyce King (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley), with an assist by
Parker Moss (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira), capped the first-half scoring.
Moss opened the second-half scoring with an assisted goal by Wallenkendeh in the 51st minute.
Three straight unassisted goals – King,
Oshynn Cosom (Mount Holly, N.J./Bordentown Regional), and Moss – came in the 64th, 69th, and 74th minutes, respectively.
Ah'Nazha Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and
Dominique Duvil (Long Island, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) combined on a goal in the 75th minute.
Moss had a hand in the final three goals, assisting on a Cosom goal in the 82nd minute, and scoring in the 84th and 90th minutes.
With four goals and two assists, Moss established a new Division II era record with four goals and 10 points. Wallenkendeh added two goals and two assists, while King finished with two goals and one assist. Daye and Cosom added two goals each.
Freshman
Ida Rose Moore (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf) made a save in the only shot she faced for her first career clean sheet.
Lincoln (1-9 overall) hosts Saint Thomas Aquinas Noon Saturday in a return to East Coast Conference action.
