Senior guards
DeAshia Young (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Public Safety Academy (Labette CC)) and
Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) combined for 43 points while senior forward
Brittany Hinton (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter (Baltimore City C.C)) recorded the first double-double of her Lincoln career as the Lincoln University women's basketball team honored their five senior players and roared to an 83-40 win over Shaw University Saturday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.
The win, Lincoln's seventh straight was also the team's 20
th on the season, joining the top ranked team in the region Indiana (Pa.) as the only two teams with 20 wins in the region. The Lions are now 20-3 overall and 10-1 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games. Shaw falls to 6-15 overall and 2-10 in league play. Lincoln remains in first place in the CIAA north standings both in overall conference record (10-1) and division record (5-0). Coach
Darrell Mosley becomes just the second

coach in program history to record 20 or more wins in a season.
Murray scored a game-high 27 points (11-22 FG, 5-10 3FG) while grabbing seven rebounds and recording a career-high seven steals. She becomes just the sixth player in program history to get seven or more steals in a game and the second this season behind Young who had seven vs. Cheyney back in November.
Young meanwhile added to her CIAA league leading assist total with seven on the afternoon, her sixth game this season with seven or more assists and her 13
th with at least five. Â Young also added 16 points (7-11 FG).
Hinton, scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed a career high 11 rebounds in just her second start of the season.Â
Shantel Cheeks (Washington D.C./Rock Creek Christian Academy (Harcum College)) and
Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin (Nyack)) added eight and six points respectively. Brown also had four assists and two steals.
In addition to Murray, Young and Hinton, three additional seniors were recognized in a ceremony prior to the start of the game; center

The Lions scored the first seven points and never looked back as they opened up an 18-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.  In the second quarter Lincoln exploded with a 17-0 run in the first five minutes as the outscored the Bears 28-8 to lead 46-15 at the half. Murray had 14 of her 27 points in the quarter and totaled 22 in the first half alone.Â
Young took over in the third quarter scoring eight of Lincoln's 24 points as the Lions expanded their lead to as many as 46 and went into the final period up 70-26. Shaw outscored the Lions 14-13 in the final quarter. Â
The 40 points allowed buy the Lions are fewest allowed this season since Clarion scored just 37 in LU's second game this season. It also marks the seventh time Lincoln has held an opponent under 50 points in a game.
The Lions shot 44% (33-75) for the game while Shaw shot just 28.8% (15-52). Lincoln also took advantage of 29 Shaw turnovers, leading to 31 points while committing just ten, in which Shaw scored just two points from. The Lions also outrebounded the Bears 43-40. LU's 19 steals are a season high and one shy of the program record of 20 steals in a game, set against Cheyney twice (2010 and again in 2012).
The Lions return to action on Monday when they host Winston-Salem State University. It will be the Lions Title IX games with the women's team tipping off in primetime at 7:30 p.m. Â The games have also been designated as Brest Cancer Awareness Day and Women' and Girls in Sport Day.
