The Lincoln University women's softball team struggled offensively as they were swept by Chowan University in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader 10-0 and 11-0 Saturday afternoon at the LU softball Complex.

Chowan's Carleigh Wildeboer tossed a no-hitter against the Lions in the first game, with only one Lincoln player reaching base,
Fifia Waithe (Bronx, N.Y. /Life Sciences Secondary) on a throwing error in the third inning. Wildeboer did not walk or strikeout a batter.

Haley Cooper hit a grand slam home run for the Hawks in the second inning.

In the second game, the Lions had two hits, both coming in the fourth inning as Chowan recorded an 11-0 decision in five innings.

The Hawks scored four times in the first inning, all with two outs and added five more in the third to take a 9-0 lead. Hawk pitcher Shannon Buchanan allowed just one walk through the first three innings.

Facing a new Chowan pitcher in the fourth,
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich. /Summit Academy) led off the inning with a single to left center, stole second and went to third on
Selena Mulet's (Baltimore, Md. /Catholic HS of Baltimore) infield single but was thrown out trying to steal home.

Miranda Glover hit a two run home run in the fifth to round out the scoring. Buchanan earned the win for the Hawks.

Jemiah Groce (Newark, Del. /Christiana) took the loss in both games for the Lions who fell to 2-26 overall and 1-14 in CIAA games.
Lincoln will play their final conference doubleheader of the season on Monday, April 15, 2019 when they host Elizabeth City State University. The games were originally scheduled for Sunday, April 14 but were pushed back due to the impending weather forecast. First pitch on Monday will be at noon.
