The Lincoln University women's volleyball team played two of their best sets of the season Wednesday night at Elizabeth City State University before struggling in the third and final set as the Vikings handed the Lions a 3-0 loss.
 
Lincoln falls to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games.   ECSU improves to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in league contests.
 
The Lions held a late lead before ECSU rallied to take the first set 26-24.  LU again played the second set close before the Vikings pulled away in the end to win 25-20.  In the third set the Vikings jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back en route to a 25-6 win to complete the three-set sweep.
 
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) led the Lions with seven kills and seven digs.  Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) dished out six assists while Renesha Love-Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson-Westside) added four.  Love-Johnson also had six digs.  Princess Robinson (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) and Russaw had two blocks apiece.

Jahera Dangerfield led the Vikings with seven kills while Asia Jones set up their offense with 16 assists.  Dangerfield also led the team with five digs.
 
The women's volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, October 5, 2019 when they play Shaw University at the CIAA roundup hosted by Virginia State University.  Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
