The Lincoln University women's volleyball team returned home on Thursday night to face Elizabeth city State University, losing to the Vikings 3-0 at Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Lions are now 1-12 overall and 1-7 in central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games. The Vikings improve to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in league play. ECSU won the first two sets 25-14 and 25-16 before pulling out the third set to complete the sweep, 25-17.
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) and
Kaiya Lewis (Woodhaven, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) led the Lions with five kills apiece.  Russaw also led the team with eight assists and two service aces.  On the defensive end,
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) led all players with 14 digs while Russaw added seven. Lewis had four blocks while
Princess Robinson (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) added three.
The Vikings were paced by a double-double from Kaylee Williams (11 kills, 11 digs). Jahara Dangerfield added six kills, six digs and led the team with 17 assists. Dangerfield also had two blocks.  Asia Jones had 11 assists and three service aces.
The Lions return to action on Saturday and Sunday (October 19-20, 2019) when they compete in their second CIAA Roundup of the season. Hosted by Winston-Salem State University, the Lions will face Livingstone College, Claflin University, Fayetteville State University and host Winston-Salem over the two-day event.
