The Lincoln University football team produced over 300 yards of total offense for the first time this season but miscues proved to be costly as Johnson C. Smith University jumped out to a three-touchdown lead at the half en route to a 50-13 win Saturday afternoon at Lions Stadium.

The loss drops the Lions' record to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games. JCSU improves to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Lincoln produced 224 yards passing on the day.Â
Vincent Espinoza (Madera, Calif /Madera (West Hills)) entered the game late in the third quarter and tossed 123 yard on eight completions (13 attempts) and one touchdown pass while
Eban Jackson II (Los Angeles, Calif. /Narbonne) had 101 yards on seven completions.

Espinoza was also the team's leading rusher, gaining 51 yards on the ground.Â
Lavelle Cloyd (Lexington, Ky./Bryan Station (Kentucky State)) added 34 yards.Â
Deontae Brockington (Randallstown, Md. /Baltimore City College HS) had six catches for 73 yards and
Carlos Croslin (Baltimore, Md. /Frederick Douglass (Globe Tech) ) added four for 69 yards.

JCSU finished with 430 yards of offense with 276 yards passing and 154 yards rushing. Antonio Wallace connected on 19 of 24 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Jachin Watkins and Desean Binyard had 78 and 75 yards on the ground respectively.

A fumbled punt by Lincoln in the second quarter produced the Golden Bulls first score of the game and JCSU was able to ride the momentum with two more scores in the quarter to lead 21-0 at the half. (A Binyard run from four yards out and an 18-yard toss from Wallace to Markel Freeman) The Golden Bulls added two more in the third quarter to go up 36-0 before the Lions got on the board. (both TD passes by Wallace). JCSU's last touchdown was also made possible by a Lincoln turnover.Â

Lincoln's only two scores came early in the fourth quarter as Espinoza led the Lions on the two scoring drives. Trailing 36-0, the senior quarterback entered the game with 4:15 left in the third quarter and took the Lions on a 13-play 50 yard drive that ended with a Cloyd touchdown at the 12:52 mark of the fourth quarter. Espinoza had runs of 15 and 12 yards on the drive for a pair of Lion first downs and a 15 yard pass to
Reginald Mays Jr. (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin (Frostburg)) before Cloyd's touchdown run.

Espinoza needed just two plays to get the Lions back in the end zone on their next possession. Starting at their own 34-yard line, Brockington caught a pass for 11 yards and Espinoza followed with a completion to Croslin who took the ball down the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown pass, making the score 36-13.

The Golden Bulls charged right back with scores on their next two possessions to round out the scoring and make the final score 50-13. Â

Lincoln is back on the road on Saturday as they travel to take on the Virginia Union University Panthers in Richmond, Virginia.  Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
