The Lincoln University women's soccer teams struggled in Saturday's contest against New York Institute of Technology, losing 9-0 to the Bears at Presidents Field in Old Westbury, New York.
 
The loss drops the Lions to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in East Coast Conference games.  The Bears improve to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.
 
The Bears outshot the Lions 43-4 in the contest, and 26-4 on goal.  
Diana Martinez (Kissimmee, Fla./St. Cloud) had two of the four shots while 
Sarata Bello (Sagamu, Nigeria/Remo Methodist) and 
Tamara Evans (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) had one apiece.
 
NYIT scored four times in the first period to take control of the contest and added five more goals in the second.  Casey Luongo had her first career hat-trick for the Bears while Maggie Thibault scored twice to lead the NYIT attack.
 
Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) had a career-high 17 saves in goal and took the loss falling to 0-6.  Jessie Sabol recorded her fourth consecutive shutout, improved her record to 6-2 on the season, and became the Bears all-time leader with 13 for her career.
 
The women's soccer team returns home for their next game, hosting Chowan University on Thursday, September 27, 2018.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
