The Lincoln University women's volleyball team opened their season Tuesday night on the road, losing 3-0 to Notre Dame University of Maryland in Baltimore.

The Gators won the match with scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-13.

Mariah Russell (St Louis Mo./Maplewood Richmond Heights) led the Lions attack recording 11 of Lincoln's 14 kills in the match.Â
Alisa Foster (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Acad.) had 12 assists while on the defensive end,
Tierra Russaw (Westland, Mich./Summit Academy) led the team with seven digs and
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) added five.

Sarah Sweet led Notre Dame with nine kills while Jamie Reyes recorded 21 assists. Grace Park led UND with six service aces while Sweet added four and a team high six digs.

For the game Notre Dame held a 26-14 advantage in kills and a large 18-2 advantage in aces. On the defensive side Lincoln had 25 digs to the Gators 17.

The women's volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Cheyney University for the first of a home and home series against the Wolves. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
