The Lincoln University women's soccer team dropped their fourth game in their last five contests losing 5-1 to Penn State Brandywine 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in Media, Pennsylvania.

The Lions fall to 2-4 on the season while PSU-Brandywine, a USCAA program, improves to 3-0-1.

Lincoln's lone goal came in the second half as
Alana Ward (Holly Springs, N.C./Trotwood Madison (Ohio)), the Lions backup goalkeeper who has been seeing more action up front as a striker of late, put a failed clear attempt past the PSU goalkeeper for her second goal of the season in the 54
th minute. Ward had entered the game in the 50
th minute, replacing starter
Kayla Butts (Lansdowne, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast) who had been ineffective in producing any offense for Lincoln.  Ward nearly had a second goal later in the game but her score was called back due the Lions being offside.

Ward's goal made the score 3-1 at the time. PSU had jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game on a left ot right shot from their leading scorer Brianna Banks. Banks struck again in the early moments of the second half and PSU added a long goal on a shot over the head of Lions goalkeeper
Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) at the 49:29 mark to give PSU a 3-0 lead.

Penn State added two more goals late in the game to make thew final score 5-1.

For the game, the Lions were outshot 15-12 including a 10-8 margin on goal.

Lincoln returns to action on Saturday, September 16, 2017 when they host Trinity Washington University at Lions Stadium.    Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
