The Lincoln University women's soccer team returned to action Wednesday night as they hosted Saint Thomas Aquinas College at Lions Stadium. The Lions struggled to get any offense going while STAC unleashed a 26-shot barrage to hand Lincoln their ninth loss of the season 7-0
The Lions fall to 6-9 while the Spartans improve to 6-8-1 on the season.
STAC's Sarah Coletti recorded a hat-trick on the evening, notching two first half goals before adding her third in the 68
th minute. McKenzi Moreau scored twice while Nicole Wagner and Marissa Connelly added one goal apiece to round out the scoring. Moreau also had three assists to finish the night with seven points. Coletti also finished with seven points with an assist on Moreau's second goal.
Courtney Dumain earned the win in goal for the Spartans, recording her sixth shutout of the season.
Lena Rodriguez (Lockport, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) took the loss for the Lions.
Lincoln managed just six shots on goal in the match, three of them by
Diana Martinez (Kissimmee, Fla./St. Cloud). Cleo spear,
Samanta Sosa (Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras/Freedom (Harris-Stowe)) and
Alana Ward (Holly Springs, N.C./Trotwood Madison (Ohio)) had one shot apiece.
STAC outshot the Lions 20-6 on goal with Rodriguez recording a season- high 13 saves.
The Lions return to action on Friday, October 27, 2017 when they host Chestnut Hill college at Lions Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
