Box Score The Lady Lions defeated nationally ranked (#7) Virginia Union tonight in a game that came down to the last minute. Â The final score was 70-65. When the competition gets tough the Lady Lions play better. That's the only way to explain it. Since the beginning of the season the Lions have met the challenge presented by all of the top teams they've played. The first game of the season against then 25
th ranked West Chester State University was a victory for the women of Lincoln. This was the first time the team had defeated an opponent ranked in the top 25 in the nation, but as of tonight's effort not the last time. Throughout the year the team continued to play inspired basketball against regional powerhouse teams like Gannon University and Millersville. Their energy and never say lose attitude seems to be the recipe for exciting and winning basketball.
Tonight the team was led by senior
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS). She scored 26 points on 8-16 attempts with two 3 point baskets made. Clark's play kept the team ahead in the first half and helped them close out the game in the last minute with clutch free throws. The Lions never trailed during the game. Also scoring in double figures for the game was freshmen
Jaeda Davis (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King HS) who scored 12 on 6-11 shooting and junior Dejah Taylor who hustled for a double-double with 16 rebounds to go along with her 10 points.
The team is now 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the CIAA Conference. Their next opponent is Chowan University at Manuel Rivero Hall. Game time is 5:30 pm.
