LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Seniors
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington County Institute) and
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham, UK /St. Mark's Catholic School) were honored in their final home softball game as a Lady Lion against Elizabeth City State University on Sunday, April 26
th at the LU Softball field.
Infielder
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington County Institute) had three hits leading the Lady Lions in game one of a double header against the Lady Vikings. Owes singled to left field in the first inning, hit an RBI double to left field in the second inning, and singled to left field again in the fifth inning.
The Lady Lions scored three runs off of three hits in the second inning to tie the game at 3-3. Infielder
Amber Cale (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) drew a walk to lead off the inning and then
Kawren Scott (Oberlin, OH/Oberlin HS) singled to left field. Both runners advanced to a better scoring position on a groundout that lead to a two RBI single by
Jasmine Harrison (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick HS) to left field.
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington County Institute) brought Harrison home with a double to left field tying the game early for Lincoln.
ECSU responded with three hits for four runs in the top of the third and then sealed the victory with one runs in the final two innings for a 9-3 win. Pitcher
Ashley Juma (Bradywine, MD/Fairmount Heights HS) tossed a complete game walking 11 batters and surrendering eight earned runs.
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham, UK /St. Mark's Catholic School) led the defense with six putouts while
Amber Cale (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) followed with five.
In game two the Lady Lions were held to four hits in a 8-0 loss in their final game of the season. Pitcher
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Burlington County Institute) went five innings walking six batters for three earned runs.
Outfielder
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) singled to left field in the first inning against the Vikings while
Jasmine Harrison (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick HS) also singled to left in the second inning.
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) singled up the middle in the fourth inning and
Amber Cale (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) double to right field in the fifth inning.
The Lady Lions conclude their season at 0-26 with a 0-16 CIAA record.
