WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) scored a game-high 22 points but Lincoln came up short to Gannon University 74-62 in the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament on Sunday, November 15
th.
Gannon held a huge advantage at the charity stripe finishing 21-for-27 compared to 7-of-12 attempts by Lincoln. Senior guard
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) powered LU with 22 points on 9-of-11 made shots from the field marking her fifth 20 point performance in her career at Lincoln. Sophomore guard
Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) added 12 points along with junior guard
Monique Cheek (Teaneck, NJ/Harford Community College) while senior guard
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) scored ten points.
Monique Cheek (Teaneck, NJ/Harford Community College) finished with a double-double grabbing a team-high ten rebounds with her 12 points off of the bench.
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS)'s three-pointer gave the Lady Lions a 15-14 lead with a minute to go in the first quarter.
Monique Cheek (Teaneck, NJ/Harford Community College) proceeded to hit a runner down the lane with six seconds remaining giving the Lady Lions a 17-16 advantage at the end of the quarter over the Gannon Knights. Both teams battled in the second period as Gannon led the entire way. Lincoln trailed by three (22-19) for about five minutes until Gannon closed out the quarter with three shots from long range to take a double digit lead. Clark and Cheek made layups in the final seconds as the Lady Lions went into halftime down, 34-25. Clark led LU at the half with eight points.
Lincoln came out of the break with
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) knocking down a pair of shots. Gannon held on to a slight advantage but
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS)'s 14 second half points kept Lincoln close. She scored ten points in the third quarter but Gannon led 52-47 going into the fourth quarter.
With two minutes to play Gannon's lead was trimmed to two (64-62). The Lady Lions defensive pressure sent the Knights to the free throw line where Gannon went 12-for-12 in the fourth quarter. Lincoln failed to take the lead and suffered a 74-62 loss to Gannon.

Monique Cheek (Teaneck, NJ/Harford Community College) also shined for the Lady Lions with a double-double scoring 12 points with ten rebounds.
Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had 12 points on 5-of-7 made field goals and
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) had ten points. LU outshot Gannon 51% to 35% but only made it to the free throw line for 12 attempts. Gannon had 27 attempts at the line converting on 21 shots.
Lincoln falls to 1-1 overall and Gannon moves to 2-0. The Lady Lions open at home on Wednesday, November 18
th against Wilmington University at 7 p.m.
