Brett Arkelian (Clovis, CA) made a 30-yard field goal against Bowie State University in a 57-3 loss on the road on Saturday, October 31
st. Arkelian's field goal marked his seventh made field goal of the season setting a new-single season record for the Lions.
Bowie State scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns and then followed that with three scores in the second quarter leading 35-0 at the half. Lincoln had a difficult time on the road against the top team in the CIAA Northern Division as they trailed 50-0 before their first points of the afternoon. Lincoln's
Brett Arkelian (Clovis, CA) attempted two field goals and converted on his 30-yard attempt in the third quarter making the score, 50-3.
Lincoln's defense had three sacks against Bowie State while the offense produced 253 total yards. Linebackers
Rhamir Thomas (Washington, PA/Youngstown State University) and
Wadel Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami Beach HS) combined for one sack, while
Tony Jones, Jr. (Baltimore, MD/Victor Valley College) and
Joseph Webb (Queens, NY/Holy Cross HS) had the other two solo sacks. Thomas had a game-high ten tackles along with Louis and Jones pitched in with seven tackles. Defensive back
James Thomas (Los Angeles, CA/Oaks Christian Academy) recorded his second interception of the season with a takeaway in the second quarter that eventually set up the Lions for their biggest play against the Bulldogs.
Running back
Stephen Scott (Baltimore, MD/Bethel College) had 28 carries for 147 total yards leading the Lincoln attack. At the beginning of the second quarter, Lincoln had their longest play of the day as Scott rushed for 46 yards on the second play of the drive. This marked his sixth time this season eclipsing 100 yards rushing and he now has 1,202 total yards.
The Lions rushed for 188 yards and passed for 65 yards to four different receivers.
Emmanuel Saint-Jean (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy HS) carried the Lions with two catches for 27 yards while
Bradley Martin (Philadelphia, PA/Vermillion CC) also had two catches for 18 yards.
Lincoln falls to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in CIAA play. Bowie State is 8-1 overall and 6-0 in CIAA play. The Lions will host Chowan University in the 2015 season finale on Saturday, November 7
th in LU Stadium.
