Box Score BOWIE, MD – Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) led the Lady Lions with 11 points and nine rebounds in a 60-56 overtime loss to Bowie State on Saturday, February 8^th. Lincoln led with 28-seconds in regulation, but a last second foul and a Bowie State three-point play sent the game into overtime.

Lincoln won the battle from the free-throw line in the opening half with nine made to Bowie State's eight. Senior guard Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) made four while junior forward Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) added three made shots from the line. Defensively, the Lady Lions forced 11 turnovers and collected four steals, but Bowie State led for the entire first half.

Sophomore forward Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) knocked down a pair of shots from long range to pace the Lady Lions with six points at the half. The Lady Lions bench outscored Bowie State's bench 10-6 led by Saunders. Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) had four points and Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) had three points and four rebounds for the starters.

In the second half, the Lady Lions improved their offense with nine made field goals and seven free-throws. Sophomore guard Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) went 3-for-4 from the line and senior forward Briana McKellery (Odenton, MD/Arundel HS) made 2-of-4 attempts, but the Lady Lions struggled shooting 39% from the charity stripe. Clark also had seven points with four rebounds to bring back her team.

The teams battled back and forth throughout the final four minutes of regulation. Sophomore guard Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) gave the Lady Lions a 44-43 lead with 2:17 left on a long range jumper from behind the arc. Bowie state responded with a basket and then Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) hit a jumper with 54-seconds left to give Lincoln a 47-45 advantage. Bowie State turned the ball over on their next possession then fouled Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) with 28 seconds left. Johnson split her free-throws as Lincoln led 48-45.

Bowie State was left with one final opportunity to force overtime. With nine seconds left Lincoln allowed a late basket and Bowie State drew a foul and converted on a potential three-point play. The Lady Lions failed at a last second drive to the basket and the game was sent into overtime tied at 48.
In overtime, the Lady Bulldogs went to the line 12 times and made 10 of their attempts. Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) and Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) scored field goals for the Lady Lions but Bowie State's defense held Lincoln down the stretch for a 60-56 victory at home.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) had a team-high 11 points and nine rebounds. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) added nine points with nine rebounds and Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) has eight points. Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) finished with seven points and seven rebounds while Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) had six points and five steals.

The Lady Lions fall to 11-11 overall record and 4-8 CIAA. Lincoln will host Elizabeth City State on Wednesday, February 12^th at 5:30 p.m. in their annual senior night.
