Lady Lions Suffer CIAA Divisional Road Loss to Virginia Union

Box Score RICHMOND, VA – Lincoln fell victim to a 70-48 road loss to Virginia Union on Saturday, February 15th. Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) led the Lady Lions with 11 points and ten rebounds notching her eighth double-double of the season.

The Lady Lions struggled offensively throughout their game with the Lady Panthers by shooting 30% while VUU was 47% from the field. Junior forward Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) had a team-high 11 points with ten rebounds for Lincoln. She grabbed four offensive and six defensive rebounds with two steals. Sophomore Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) dished out a career-high seven assists and hit one of the Lady Lions two made three-point attempts.

Sophomore guard Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS), junior forward Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy), and senior guard Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) each scored eight points. Lucas had eight rebounds and Johnson has six, but Virginia Union won the rebounding battle 45-39. In the second half, Virginia Union went to the free-throw line 19 times and converted on ten of those attempts. Lincoln went 5-for-14 from the line in the final twenty minutes and failed to knock down a shot from behind the arc. The Lady Panthers cruised to a 70-48 win at home while Lincoln dropped to 11-13 overall and 4-10 in CIAA play.

The Lady Lions travel to Murfreesboro, NC on Wednesday, February 19th to tangle with the Hawks of Chowan University in their second to last regular season game.
