Bench Leads Lady Lions In 76-66 Road Victory Over Wilmington

NEWARK, Del. – Senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) had a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds leading the LU bench that outscored Wilmington (45-25) in a 76-66, road victory for the Lions on Thursday, November 20th in Newark, Del. at the WU Athletics Complex.

The Lady Lions move to a perfect overall record 3-0 after their first road win of the season. In the first half the Lions used their size to dominate the paint with 15 offensive rebounds. Senior Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) had led the Lady Lions with six total rebounds including four offensive boards. Sophomore Jailen Murphy (Nashville, TN/Brentwood Academy) carried the bench early with seven points along with Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC). Wilmington shot 43% (14-32) from the field while Lincoln was 30% (12-40) in the first half and the teams were tied 39-39 at the half.

The Lady Lions went on a 15-1 run in the second half to pull away from the Wildcats on the road.  Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC)'s layup got things started with 13:55 left to play pushing the Lady Lions advantage to, 46-43. Junior Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) had five points during the run with a three-pointer and a made basket while freshman Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) added four made free-throws. Saunders, Pam, and Pendleton led a LU bench in the second half that outscored Wilmington 23-10. The LU trio also made all ten of their free-throw as the Lions pulled away with their third win of the season, 76-66.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) had a team-high 15 points with seven rebounds off of the Lady Lions bench. Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) tied her season-high with 10 points and eclipsed her previous season-high with seven rebounds. Junior Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) led the starters with 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Mieana Gaines (Lincoln Park, MI/Southfield University Academy) posted a season-best eight points while Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) had six points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Lions are off to their best start since becoming a Division II member back in 2010. Lincoln will host Washington Adventist University at home on Sunday, November 30th at 2 p.m. inside Manuel Rivero Hall.
