LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The women's soccer team at The Lincoln University was shutout 4-0 by Barton College at home on Wednesday, October 1
st. Goalkeeper
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) led the Lions with four saves against the Bulldogs.
Lincoln fell behind in the match against Barton after back-to-back goals in the 23
rd and 25
th minutes. The Bulldogs attempted eight shots while the Lions struggled with only two through the first half. Sophomore
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute) posted three saves at goalie and senior
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) carried the offense with two shot attempts, but the Lions trailed 2-0 at the half.
The Bulldogs kept the pressure on the Lions early in the second half with a pair of goals in the 49
th minute extending their lead 4-0. Lincoln had a tough outing with only three shots in the final half on the Barton defense. Junior
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) recorded a game-high four saves at goalie for the Lions in relief of Harris as the defense settled down and held the fast-paced Bulldogs scoreless for the rest of the match. Lincoln suffered their first shutout of the season falling to Barton 4-0.
The Lions fall to 4-4-1 on the season while Barton improves to 5-1-1. Lincoln travels to Lakewood, NJ in their next game on Tuesday October 7
th against Georgian Court at 3:30 p.m.
