Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) led the Lady Lions with 15 points, five steals, and five assists in a 72-63 road loss against Winston-Salem State University on January 4
th.
Lincoln held their largest lead of 12 points in the first half of play against Winston-Salem State. The Lady Lions controlled momentum early by getting to the foul line on the Lady Rams defense.
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) scored nine points in the first half including a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line. Smith also grabbed four rebounds as the Lady Lions held a slight 25-22 rebounding advantage over the Lady Rams.
Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) anchored the Lincoln bench early with eight points and eight rebounds. Lincoln forced 13 turnovers and scored 10 first half points with great defense. The Lady Lions was 14-20 (70%) from the free-throw line and led 33-29 at halftime over the Lady Lions.
In the second half of play,
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) paced the Lady Lions with 10 points, two assists, and two steals. Clark was 5-11 from the field and played great defense on the Lady Ram guards. Poor shooting from the free-throw line doomed the Lady Lions in the second half. Lincoln went 4-13 while WSSU converted on 16-22 attempts from the free-throw line to rally from behind and open a 10 point lead. The Lady Rams exploded for 43 second half points and held Lincoln to 30 points and downed the Lady Lions 72-63.
Three Lady Lions reached double-figure scoring led by
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) and
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) who had 15 points each.
Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) recorded her third double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) also dished out five assists and had five steals as the Lady Lions forced WSSU into 29 turnovers.
Lincoln falls to 6-5, 6-2 CIAA in their first game of the New Year. The Lady Lions will return to action on Monday, January 6 in Salisbury, NC to battle Livingstone College at 5:30 p.m.
