Lincoln began the game with the edge, racing out to a 14-6 lead within the first six minutes. Senior guard
Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and junior forward
Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) combined 10 of those initial 14 points.
Chowan responded well to their early deficit. They went on an 18-9 run over the next 10 minutes to take their first lead of the game with 3:43 left before halftime. Their lead was stretched to as many as three over the final minutes of the period, but they went into intermission with a 30-28 lead.
In the opening 30 seconds of the second half the Lady Lions tied the game at 30 after a fast-break layup by

However, Chowan responded well once again and created another dominant stretch to take control of the game, springing to a 14-5 run during the next six-plus minutes to take a 44-35 lead.
The Lady Lions didn't give up after that, though. Lincoln quickly cut the lead back down to four in about a minute in a half, after a three-pointer by sophomore guard
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) and mid-range jumper by
Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) moments later.
Two three-pointers by sophomore forward
Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) within two minutes of each other helped Lincoln continue to shrink their deficit even more.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) and freshman forward
