Lions Down Georgian Court, 62-58

Box Score Lakewood, NJ – Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute)'s 11 points, seven steals, and five assists propelled the Lions over Georgian Court University 62-58 on Thursday, November 21 on the road. Lincoln's defense turned 27 turnovers into 23 points for their offense.

Lincoln held Georgian Court to 6-29 (27%) shots from the field in the opening half of play. The Lions bench led the offense with 19 first half points behind Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS)' nine points and Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) seven points. Saunders and Lucas both made three-point field goals as the Lions shot 13-35 (37%) from the field. De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) led the starters with six points and Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) grabbed four rebounds. At the half, Lincoln led 31-21.

Cynthia Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) extended the Lions lead to 34-21 at the beginning of the second half with a three-pointer. Johnson scored nine points in the second half and played aggressive defense with five steals. Georgian Court fought back and converted on 13-17 attempts from the free-throw line.

Lincoln surrendered their lead after two free-throws by Georgian Court's Keosha Parks with 7:06 left in the game. The GCU lead grew to 52-47 at the 5:30 mark then Lincoln rallied back with rebounding and opportunities at the foul line. Lincoln's Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) sparked a 7-0 run, as the Lions reclaimed the lead 54-52 with just over three minutes left in the game. Pam continued her interior scoring with back-to-back layups giving the Lions a 61-56 lead with a minute remaining.

LU's Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) sealed the Lions second road victory of the season knocking down free-throws in the final seconds. Smith was 5-6 from the free-throw line in the second half. The final score was 62-58 as Lincoln improved to 2-1 after their third straight game on the road.

Johnson led the attack with 11 points, while Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) had a season-high 10 points, and both De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) and Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) each had nine points. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) led the Lions with five rebounds and Mieana Gaines (Lincoln Park, MI/Southfield University Academy) was force defensively with three blocks.
